AI Search Visibility Report: A Reviewable Sample
The short answer
An AI search report should show the questions tested, the test conditions, the answers observed and what to do next. A percentage without those records tells you little. Brand mentions, citations, visits and completed work are different measures.

Define the questions before collecting answers
Choose questions connected to an actual buying decision. Separate questions that name the brand from unbranded comparisons: a system describing a company after being explicitly asked about it has not necessarily recommended it when someone compares options.
Keep a stable core set for comparison and label exploratory additions. Record the intended market, language, platform and feature or mode, plus material context you know. If location or personalization cannot be controlled, state that rather than presenting the sample as a perfectly reproducible market test.
Keep failed observations in the attempted total. A timeout or unavailable answer is not a negative brand mention, but silently dropping it makes the collection process difficult to judge.
A complete observation should be readable on its own
| Field | Demonstration entry |
|---|---|
| Record and time | Demo A-07; 19 October 2026, 10:00 UTC. |
| System and feature | Fictional Answer Service, demonstration comparison mode. No real product or model coverage is claimed. |
| Question | “What should a company check before replacing a service website?” |
| Context | English; no brand named; intended worldwide business audience. Physical location and personalization unknown. |
| Observed demonstration text | A fictional answer recommends checking requirements, useful current pages and publishing limitations. It names Example Controls as an example. |
| Classification | Brand mentioned; no explicit recommendation to buy from it. One citation points to publisher.example, not the brand’s website. |
| Evidence and permissions | Invented text for this teaching example. No customer screenshot, account information or permission to reproduce a real answer is represented. |
| Limitation | One constructed record cannot show typical results, market coverage or change over time. |
| Next action | In a real review, inspect the cited source and check whether its description is accurate before proposing a content change. |
A real record should retain available dated evidence and cited URLs, subject to appropriate permissions. If you cannot capture an answer, record the gap rather than reconstructing a favorable response. If information is unavailable, say so.
Show the attempted and completed totals
In a separate fictional calculation, a panel contains 24 questions. Twenty answers are successfully recorded, four attempts fail and five successful answers mention the brand. The observed mention rate is 5 ÷ 20 = 25% among recorded answers. Completion is 20 ÷ 24 = 83.3% of attempted questions.
The four failed attempts are not evidence of no mention. Report them separately. The 25% is not the percentage of all buyers who see the company.
If you run each of 20 questions three times, that is 20 distinct questions and 60 attempted answer observations—not 60 new buyer questions. Report both counts and the matching rules. Keep mentions distinct from recommendations, and define whether a citation count means any brand-owned URL, a particular page or a third-party reference.
Separate observations, work and business response
| Layer | Evidence | Limit |
|---|---|---|
| Observed visibility | Dated answers, brand classification and cited links in the stated sample. | Not a universal or stable ranking. |
| Work delivered | Named pages, approved factual corrections and recorded changes. | Completion does not prove the external answer changed because of that work. |
| Business response | Identifiable source visits and qualified inquiries where the records support a connection. | A citation may produce no visit, and a visit may produce no suitable inquiry. |
Google reports its AI-feature search traffic within Search Console’s overall Web data. Do not relabel the whole Web total as AI traffic. Keep unattributed inquiries unattributed rather than allocating them to whichever observation improved that month.
End with an action and a recheck condition
| Finding | Action and owner | Recheck |
|---|---|---|
| A description repeatedly misstates a service inclusion. | Business owner verifies the fact; content owner corrects inconsistent public information. | Confirm the pages are accurate, then repeat relevant observations without promising a changed answer. |
| The sample consists mostly of explicit brand questions. | Research owner adds justified unbranded buying questions, separately labeled. | Explain the changed method before comparing headline percentages. |
| A single citation disappears. | Keep observing and inspect the source/context before assuming an issue. | Look for a documented pattern, not a selected screenshot. |
