What Do SEO Services Include?
The short answer
SEO services may include research, page planning, content, website changes, link-related work and reporting. Before buying, check what you will receive, who makes the changes, what your team contributes and how completion is agreed.

The work behind an SEO service
| Work category | Useful output | Scope question |
|---|---|---|
| Demand research | A defined customer task and relevant search context | Which audience and markets are studied? |
| Page planning | A decision to create, improve, combine or leave a page alone | Who turns the decision into work? |
| Content | A reviewed answer grounded in approved facts | Are research, expert review, editing and upload included? |
| Implementation | The specified website change and verification | Which platform, permissions and change types are supported? |
| Off-site and AI work | Defined activities with evidence and limits | What methods, counting units and scope of the review apply? |
| Measurement | Work records, comparable observations and next decisions | What is known about inquiries and sales? |
This overview describes types of work; it does not mean every provider offers every specialty. Stormy Increment’s confirmed annual offering combines a WordPress marketing website, keyword strategy, English content, AI/GEO work, links and monthly reporting. A generic scope list does not create separate technical, local or ecommerce products.
Which services your company needs first
Small teams do not all need the same service mix. Compare these fictional situations.
- The important page lacks known suitability facts. First improve that answer with the service expert. Postpone loosely related article production.
- Approved content exists but cannot be published properly. Establish the implementation owner and platform limitation. Buying more drafts is not the first priority.
- Work is being published but inquiries cannot be evaluated. Define useful inquiries and the sales-feedback record. Do not assume a larger link or content limit solves the measurement gap.
Choose from the buyer task, page evidence, implementation capacity and review capacity. A standard SEO checklist does not set your business priorities.
How much time your team needs to contribute
There is no honest universal number of client hours per month. The demand depends on the work and on how ready the company’s facts, approvals and implementation routes are.
For a content review, a product expert may need to confirm operating limits while a marketing owner resolves wording and the website owner approves publication. For a reporting decision, the delivery owner explains completed work, sales supplies inquiry-quality feedback and the budget owner approves the next priority. These are illustrative responsibilities, not a fixed Stormy Increment meeting schedule.
A developer is needed when the task reaches templates, integrations or other changes outside an editor’s permission. An executive may be needed for spending or a material claim. Track actual input and waiting time rather than inventing a standard hour budget.
Follow one task from brief to completion
The following is a fictional work record for an eligibility answer, not a client deliverable.
| Stage | Record | Owner and acceptance |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Help buyers determine whether the service fits their operating conditions | Marketing owner accepts the defined task |
| Facts | Approved conditions, exclusions and evidence sources | Service expert confirms accuracy |
| Brief | Question, intended page, sources and next action | Planner checks that the existing page is the right destination |
| Draft | A clear answer with limits, not an unsupported promise | Editor reviews usefulness; expert approves facts |
| Publish | Approved content placed on the specified page | Authorized website owner implements |
| Verify | Live content, links and inquiry path checked | Acceptance owner records passed checks or open defects |
| Review | Relevant observations and repeated sales questions | Marketing and sales record the next decision |
A draft awaiting approval is not published work. A published change is not proof of a sale. Keep both distinctions in the work record.
Advice, production and implementation
Mark each task as included, excluded or unknown before buying. “Improve the page” may mean writing recommendations, producing final copy, uploading content, changing a template or checking the result. Those are separate stopping points.
For example, a proposal can include a final draft but exclude upload. Another may include CMS editing but require a client developer for a shared component. Neither is automatically wrong. The problem is treating an unknown responsibility as work somebody else will perform. Use a matrix with task, output, implementer, approver, acceptance test and inclusion status.
What links and AI work need to specify
For links, ask about source types, acquisition methods, placement evidence, counting rules and risks. Link records and distinct referring domains are different units. An allowance of up to 3,000 links is not a promise of 3,000 websites. Check proposed practices against Google’s spam policies; a package quantity does not prove that a method is acceptable.
For AI-search work, ask which systems and questions are observed, when the observations are made, and how mentions, links and citations are distinguished. A sample observation is not a promise of stable future inclusion. Google’s AI-feature guidance does not make a supplier able to guarantee citations.
What the report should connect
A useful report connects completed work, relevant observations, limitations and the next decision. In a fictional record: “Eligibility answer published and accepted; sales still asks for a missing compatibility explanation; commercial impact not yet established; verify the fact and improve the page.” That is more useful than claiming that publication itself is growth.
Record the page, work date, comparison period, measures available, inquiry-quality feedback and unresolved data. Keep work completion and outcome observations in separate fields.
Questions to settle in the proposal
- What constitutes an accepted unit of work?
- Which facts, approvals and access must we supply?
- Who writes, uploads, develops and verifies?
- Which costs and platforms are included, excluded or unknown?
- What methods and evidence will be disclosed?
- What will reporting establish—and what will remain uncertain?
- How are changes, handover and continuing responsibilities handled?
Then compare providers’ written responsibilities with the outputs you need. If evaluating Stormy Increment, review the listed service options and, where appropriate, the annual plan, then confirm the specific scope. Use the contract checklist for the commercial terms. A complete buying decision needs both a useful output and a credible route to getting it done.
